Ka'Ri Af Osprem, High Elf Rogue

Ka'Ri is 5'0" and extremely scrawny and can at times be mistaken for someone still in their teens. She is overall somewhat wild looking with long green hair, aqua eyes, and a keen hungry expression. She is more tan than the typical high elf owing to her long time on sea and often wears common pirate garb including pants, vest, and slightly open ruffle top. On her high arms are several tattoos that mark her as being a part of the Osprem crew that she hides while working.

She also fidgets a lot and seems somewhat uncomfortable, especially when being observed. It is suspected this is because she has recently had to pawn off her Belt of Gender Alignment for money to help care for the members of her fellow crew who have taken sick with the plague. Also because of this, she is extremely self-conscious about shaving and making sure her face always looks smooth even though no one else can perceive it as otherwise.

Personality: Ka'Ri can come off as intense and serious at first meet owing to the current circumstances she is in, but if you get to know her, you can find her to be extremely loyal and caring, sometimes to the point of lacking in good self-care. She will sacrifice almost anything to help those she has bonded with and has an especially strong distaste for nobles and noble culture she refuses to explain to those she does not trust.

Religion: As given by the name, Ka'Ri and her fellow crewmates are all devout worshippers of Osprem and have in-depth rituals they perform on the seas. As the crew has been land-locked for awhile, they have performed these rituals as best they can. Ka'Ri carries a religious token around her neck as a token of this.

Commonly Known: If you want an eager rogue to break you in to wherever you need and loot whatever you need, Ka'Ri is one of the hot new names. She has been a member of the Osprem crew for 20 years and it was they who brought her in to the temple for resurrection following an accident that struck her dead shortly before her 100th birthday.

Sadly, like many of the pirate ships docked at that time, many of the crewmates fell ill from the plague while she was being treated. Unlike some of those ships, though, the crew of the Osprem refused to leave a single member of their crew behind, even when more of them, including their Captain, Captain Caroline, fell ill as well and their coin has begun to run dry.

The Osprem is somewhat famous among pirate circles as well as being a boat entirely helmed by runaways and those who have chosen for one reason or another to abandon their family or origin for a chosen family of the sea. This is also the reason that Ka'Ri has been taking more and more odd jobs from her fence, Qiao Esum, a former crewmate who lost his legs in an accident and now works in the city. This and her desperation to care for the pirate crew who are her dearest and closest family.

She is also tragically bad at self-care especially when someone she cares about is hurting and can be prone to over-sacrificing on their behalf.

Uncommonly Known: Those close to her and the pirate crew know that the Osprem was scheduled to dock into town on her 100th birthday and this is because that is the date High Elves are considered adults and she could finally legally change her name in the port of her birth.

It is also known by those trusted that the money the crew used to resurrect her was the money they had set aside for this legal process as well as some personal funds. This strong delay as well as Ka'Ri's reason for running away as a not legal adult has to do with her parents, the Llellewyns, a rich noble family who frequently publicly speaks out about what they consider to be "modern decadence" that "wasn't at all like back in the old days".

Related to this, the only thing Ka'Ri will refuse to do to make coin is hurt the innocent directly or speak with/work for the Llellewyns.

Contact: Qiao Esum

Appearance: Mostly human... probably. Older than a youth and younger than middle age, but exact age is hard to pin down. Slender and short from the waist up; was probably short from the waist down, too, before the accident. Clothes are clean and serviceable, but don't speak to any particular amount of wealth.

History: Qiao Esum was a pirate and a good one. Born on the sea, he learned to walk on ships long before he ever set a toe on land. He climbed rigging ropes like a monkey, slept more nights in the crow's nest than he did in the hammocks below deck, and seemed destined for a long and distinguished career under the loving eye of sweet lady Osprem.

When an accident with a wand misfire took both his legs below the knee in an explosion, he was crushed but refused to roll over and die. Deciding that life was taking him in a new direction, he left the sea for land and used his meager savings to purchase a house, a wheeled chair, and a new wand--this one thoroughly vetted and with a rather different spell: a magical "Mount", or in Qiao's case, a magical carthorse who pulls his chair wherever he wishes to go.

On his early retirement from the sea, his fellow pirates--retired and otherwise--were able to connect him with the thieves who run the Nightdocks. Qiao quickly rose to be a trusted and competent fence in their ranks; he had a good eye for value, a keen tongue for bargaining, and was smart enough to never besmirch his name by trying to cheat a good thief of his hard-earned wages. He has eked out a solid living for himself and can honestly say he's happier now on land than he was traveling from storm to storm without a port to call his own.

Though he did not serve with Ka'Ri in his youth, he knew of her through common friends. When the plague forced her and her people to dock, he helped them find homes in the slums and became her way "in" to Brilight's thieving underworld. He acts as her fence, and sometimes brings her news of jobs or openings she might be interested in.

Other Details: Qiao was, at one time, saving up for a restoration spell for his legs, but has come to find that his magical solutions work just fine and he'd just as soon spend the enormous amount of money a restoration spell would cost on other things instead.

Qiao's birth name and assigned gender are lost to the waves, but he has shared with Ka'Ri that his name was chosen by himself and not by his parents because the one they gave him fit rather shabbily. He doesn't speak of this much with others, not because it's a secret (it's not) but because it's so much a part of the past that it rarely seems relevant information to share with people.

Welcome again Mazikeen! Your character looks awesome and I am super excited to have you and her aboard. I really like what you have put together for her, and the image is really cool as well. Hooray for more elves! =)
