Rogues and Revelry (Ellowyn)

"That's the true artistry of food I never mastered but it makes sense that children of olidammara would. After all cooking always seemed to me like chaos captured and deep fried."

They take a small sip of honey mead and roll it round their tongue tasting the sweetness and depth. It was unlike anything they'd ever tried before. It made them feel tingly and effervescent.

"Thats some serious flavour, hmmm I wonder if anyone's ever thought about mechanising the process of making all this food...." They were about to let themselves ramble when they suddenly remembered that perhaps they should maybe ask him about himself but he was such a good listener and they really desperately hoped trey was a good man.

"What's your favourite thing to do outside of here?They gesture around the temple before continuing " not for work or obligation or family. Just for you?"

They are being genuinely sincere their desperately curious about trey in good ways and bad.

Trey laughs softly, watching them as he savors his mead. "Not for work or obligation or family?" he repeats with a chuckle. "I can't honestly say I know what that would look like. Do you have activities which fall into none of those categories?"

Ellowyn stops still for a minute looking at trey concern clear on their face. "You mean you don't..." They struggle with the idea that some people really don't know how to look after themselves properly.

Like sure Ellowyn forgot sometimes but they remembered eventually that life involved self care and alone time, self indulgences. First ka'ri being so tightly wound and barely touching any food. Although Ellowyn had the feeling that was related the their commonalities a way to control something, anything when even your own body is out of your control. Ellowyn dimly remembers the dark years trying to think about it but it hurt they had turned to poppy syrup but they could see how food could easily of been something they would have turned to.


They start again trying to lighten their tone, they know they shouldn't care but this is sad. This person is so deeply sad and they weren't even sure if he knew it yet or if it wasn't going to blow up in his face one day because he keeps it so bottled up.

"Oh I enjoy a great many a thing outside of those. I pray not out of obligation purely because I enjoy spending time with all the gods. I eat good food" they gesture to the last few mouth fulls of the fried dough and take a delicate nibble " I drink wonderful drinks and I spend time with handsome kind strangers" they smile at trey then "and for a long time I ran away to the woods, the outside. Lived with the animals I slept under the stars and travelled i saw barely another person for months at a time sometimes years. I was out there for 50 or so although honestly that's just a guess the passage of time isn't the same when your around society."

(OOC I'd like to try and see if any other temple staff are around and how they're reacting to Ellowyn and "trey" kinda hoping there's some underling waiting to talk to boss man thatll ruin his ruse but I'm doubtful he's so good at obfuscation damn him and I haven't played enough dnd to know what else I can do

"That sounds wonderful," he observes with a warm smile. "I can't say I've ever slept under the stars. You must be fortune's favorite to have survived outside the walls for so long; I am told it is quite dangerous out there."

He finishes his pastry and mead in no real hurry, chatting amicably with them before moving to stand. "Well. I thank you for this break, friend," he says with a smile. "But I suppose I must return to my duties."

Ellowyn nods holding his gaze for a moment "look after yourself trey" as he leaves they hum to themselves the tune of the music box determined to play a small joke on him and get the tune stuck in his head all day without anyway to fix the music box to hear it again. A small chaotic infuriating gesture entirely in the vein of Oli.

They watch him leave curious where he goes or who interacts or approaches him

Indeed, it does not take long for a cleric to scurry up to Father Trey with some issue--it sounds like there's a drunken patron turning violent in the worship hall and in need of quietly escorting out. Ellowyn catches very little of the whispered conversation, but there is a distinct and relieved "thank you, Betreygis" at the end from the frazzled cleric when Trey strides away to deal with the problem.

Ellowyn goes cold, like all the blood is rushing from their extremities. They're frozen to the spot while their mind is screaming to run.

They force themselves to sip their drink. What was once sweet is bitter and too thick. They struggle to swallow another mouthful but they some how manage, their body taking over while their mind actively shrinks away.

They mechanically stand and leave in the opposite direction than he did. Uncomfortably aware that they're probably being watched right now by unseen eyes.

They head to the nearest safe place the temple at Ehlonna they head into a private prayer room they close the door leaning on it and slowly slide to the floor. There they stay rocking themselves trying to seek comfort that wouldnt come. Theres a knock on the door a familiar sound soft but specific. It was jagel they opened the door slightly to let him in they struggle to talk but he is patient and lets them stutter out a request that a message be sent to veshti's letting them know they were safe but that they were staying here tonight and will meet at the gates. They needed to be in the arms of Ehlonna, They needed nature's cool soothing embrace.

Jagel nods he was one of the few people who had seen Ellowyn like this. Practically non verbal and having vacated their own body as best as they could.

He leaves for a few seconds but Ellowyn hardly notices as he returns with a blanket and a water skin he then leaves them alone with Ehlonna. There Ellowyn eventually falls into fitful nightmare filled sleep.
